Style.Uz Art Week is the most high-profile cultural event in Central Asia, which is aimed at helping develop modern and traditional Uzbek fashion and art. Now in its eighth year, the project brings together a large number of guests from across the world in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan and a city where the past blends with the present.
The Opening Ceremony of Style.Uz Art Week 2013 and Opening Ceremony of the Seventh Tashkent International Biennale of Contemporary Art was held at the Grand Youth Art Palace Palace in Tashkent, Uzebkistan. Style.Uz Art Week, a brainchild of Gulnara Karimova, is the biggest and highest profile culture and art project in Central Asia launched in an effort to help further develop Uzbekistan’s contemporary and traditional national fashion and arts.
The program began with a fashion show by Seville Fashion School of Spain. Afterwards, there was a musical performance by a group of talented children from the Lion King Music and Theater Studio. And finally Ms. Gulnara Karimova took to the stage with special guests, including Director Zhang Yuan of China (“Beijing Flickers”) for a special ribbon cutting. The rest of the week will feature an exciting lineup of fashion shows and events.
The project is overseen by the Fund Forum, a major Tashkent-based foundation dedicated to supporting and nurturing Uzbek culture, arts, education and sports, discovering and supporting young Uzbek talents and disseminating unbiased information about Uzbekistan’s cultural legacy across the world.
