Located at 41-16 Queens Boulevard in Queens, Salt & Fat gives the best impression of homemade cooking. The 28-year-old chef and owner Daniel Yi was born in Seoul and raised in Sunnyside and Woodside. He describes his cooking at Salt & Fat as “new American,” a cuisine with the perfect blend of Asian and American food, not Asian fusion. The decoration in this restaurant resembles a modern American restaurant with it’s gleaming modern candelabra in the ceiling.

One trendy dish Salt & Fat serves is the BLT buns, with braised bacon, spicy mayo, and crisp, fresh vegetables stuffed in the middle of a sweet fluffy bun. This dish is similar to the popular Momofuku’s pork bun, but it gives a more juicy feeling in the mouth.

The Fuji Apple Salad is served as an appetizer with baby arugula, speck, candied walnuts, goat cheese, and drizzled lemon honey vinaigrette. This dish puts our mind at ease as we indulge and savor its tastiness.

The Yellowtail tartare with yuzu gel, scallions, and cassava chips is both appealing to the eye and nose. The presentation will be too beautiful to eat, but the salivating aroma will beckon for your taste buds to experience.

The fried chicken, which resembles buttermilk chicken, is served with pickled daikon and herb ranch dressing. Another dish that should not be missed, due to its perfect blend of flour, cayenne, and paprika creating the ever so crispy skin and juicy chicken.

Crispy Berkshire Pork Trotter is a delightful and scrumptious dish with spicy mayo and a slow cooked egg scallion ‘mu-chim’ that simply fulfills our eating desire and satiates our stomach.

The Long Island Duck breast served with butter lychee, grilled frisee, and sweet & sour jus is an unforgettable moment for duck lovers. A experience and portion that is well worth the price. The duck is cooked beautifully with that right amount of fat to compliment the meat.

Salt & Fat also offers varieties of beers and wines for people to pair with their meals. For the beer lovers, you can try several numbers of beers from various breweries across the United States. Drink responsibly. Non-alcoholic beverages such as their homemade ice teas are served in a chill glass.

The desserts served are Lychee Panna Cotta, Yuzu Buttermilk Sorbet and ice cream & sorbet. All of their ice creams and sorbets are made-in-house meaning they are homemade ice cream and sorbet. This dessert ended our food tasting journey leaving a pleasant a smile on your faces, allowing you to leave the Salt & Fat Asian-American restaurant with a smile. Salt & Fat restaurant is a great restaurant for family and friends gathering. The dishes are delicious, captivating, and will leave you satisfied.
