Queens Taste 2016 is an annual local food festival hosted by The Queens Economic Development Corporation and the Queens Tourism Council and this year Queens Taste 2016 attracted hundreds of people at the New York Hall of Science on May 03, 2016. . The festival allows attendees to discover the diverse cuisine offered by local Queens restaurants. Everyone gets to try samples from various restaurants including the Thai Rock, Leaf Bar & Lounge, The Nest, Rose House Tea Room, Mulan Restaurant, Music House, Kimchi Smoke, DF Mavens, Desserts that Matter, Redwood, and many more.

The NEST Restaurant and Bar, served samples of its Caribbean Chinese fusion cuisine. At the event, there were samples of its vegetarian platters and curry chicken with tangy duck sauce. The restaurant hosts live entertainment every Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, featuring various music genres such as Soca, Chutney, Reggae and Calypso. The Masbia Soup Kitchen Network offered samples of various homemade dishes. Masbia Soup Kitchen Network was established in 2005 as a grassroots organizations with its mission to give people in need nourishing meals, free of cost. Located in Williamsburg, Boro Park, and Flatbush, Masbia and its volunteers prepare home cooked meals and grocery packages to give to those in need. At the fair, Masbia Soup Kitchen gave samples of their home-cooked yams, apple with cinnamon and multigrain rice and chicken. The food was nutritious and delicious. www.masbia.org

Zenon Taverna is a Greek restaurant dedicated in serving authentic, fresh Greek and Mediterranean cuisine. Located at Astoria, the restaurant offers buffet menus featuring traditional Greek cuisine and other Mediterranean dishes such as shrimp santorini, souvlaki, mousaka, pastitsio, and taramosalada. Their restaurant also offers catering for special events and hors d’oeuvres. At the event, they served grilled bell peppers with fried mozzarella cheese slices on a slice of pita bread and grilled octopus. The octopus was tender and the pita dish delicious. Kimchi Smoke, is a Tex-Korean restaurant from Texas. Kimchi Smoke has hosted various pop-up events in New York and has a restaurant in New Jersey. At the fair, Kimchi Smoke gave a small sample of crunchy ramen noodles with pinto beans, scallions, kimchi with a spicy red sauce. The spiciness is mild with hints of its smoky flavor.
