Project by Project NY, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, held its 16th annual Plate by Plate Annual Tasting Benefit on Sep. 26th at the Metropolitan Pavilion. Attended by over 200 socially aware Asian American young professionals and foodies alike, the Tasting was Project by Project’s main fundraising event for its 2014 Partner, the Henry Street Settlement’s Asian Bi-Cultural Mental Health Services.

More than just a premier Tasting event, Plate by Plate stands out from the pack with its philanthropic mission to raise awareness and funds for a chosen Partner organization committed to the Asian American community.

Since 1997, Henry Street, through its Asian Bi-Cultural Mental Health Services unit, has been supporting the otherwise unmet mental health needs of the local Asian population. As a largely immigrant population, Asian Americans face many barriers when seeking mental health services in their communities, including stigma, lack of access to care, language challenges and lack of culturally and linguistically responsive providers. Henry Street is committed to addressing these challenges through their Asian Bi-Cultural Mental Health Services, and we hope that this partnership will help overcome these barriers.

Highlights of the evening included MC Jin‘s special appearance and delicious food provided by All’Onda, Blue Ribbon Sushi Izakaya, Fung Tu, Gordo’s Cantina, Mok Bar, Sachi Asian Bistro, The Sea Grill, The Fourth, Thalassa, Wooly’s Shaved Ice, Yerba Buena Perry, and Vai Restaurant.

Not to mention the vast verity of selections with drinks including VOSS Water, zico coconut water, Bruce Cost Ginger Ale, Barrow’s Intense Ginger Liqueur, Sapporo Beer, Singha Beer, Tiger Beer, Japanese Sake, Bombay Sapphire and Tito’s Handmade Vodka.

Besides food and drinks, there was a silent auction featuring over 90 items including photography donated by Corky Lee.

It was a fun event that was full of delicious dishes, beautiful people with wonderful hearts. Bravo to Project by Project for all these years’ contribution and dedication to the Asian community!
