Dressed in a red polo, grey jeans, black shoes and shades, Aaron Kwok greeted his fans at the 3rd New York Chinese Film Festival screening of his film, “Divergence” on Oct 20th at AMC Empire 25 theater.

“Divergence” is an action crime movie which revolves around how the path of a cop, a lawyer and an assassin cross after the assassination of a federal witness and the kidnapping of a pop singer. Aaron Kwok plays the role of Suen Siu Yan, a police officer who never gave up searching for his missing girlfriend. Ekin Cheng plays To Hou Sun, a lawyer who protects the incriminating rich from the judiciary. Daniel Wu plays the role of the assassin, a man who works for money. Each of these characters was on a set path in their life but certain things caused them to divert from that path onto a new obsession. It is these obsessions that intertwine them, provide them with their wants and ultimately bring them onto new and separate paths again.

Fans and press were in high anticipation after the screening as Aaron Kwok entered the theater with a warm hello. During the Q&A session, Aaron gave out signed posters and cards to fans that correctly answered questions concerning his films and awards. After the giveaway, the organizers surprised Aaron and attendees with a birthday cake and gifts. Every one in the theater harmoniously sang “Happy Birthday” to Aaron as a pre-celebration for his 47th birthday. Unfortunately, Aaron was on a time constraint and was not able to stay longer to answer questions from the audience. He quickly exited the building after the cutting his cake and the promoting of his upcoming movie, “Cold War.”
