Vivienne Tam’s Spring 2014 collection draws inspiration from “ode to modern Shanghai”, with nostalgic resemblances of the classic and traditional Chinese dresses, qipaos.
Showcasing vivid colors, vibrant patterns and architectural cuts, the collection exerts a “pulsing metropolis and a breath of new life into traditional Calendar Girls that was the original inspiration to the collection.” While the collection embodies an old-era motif, it also maintains consistent patterns and silhouettes of modern-day fashion.
The models were draped in relaxed and loose fitted pieces that reflected clean and fresh styles. The use of prints and floral embroideries were the theme in the collection. Some pieces did not consist of either, but still demonstrated a sleek and natural elegance to the collection.
Not only utilizing distinctive prints and patterns, the entire collection in itself was a collection of rich textiles from silk, viscose, poplin, tencel, mesh, and textured cotton. Ready-to-wear for Spring 2014!
