Vivienne Tam’s collection for Fall Winter 2015 featured 40 looks using natural and hi-tech materials. These materials included handcrafted embroideries, fine silk, wools (melton and boiled), and lace laser-cut appliqués.
AsianInNY had the honor to interview Vivienne Tam backstage before her show for New York Fashion Week at Lincoln Center.
What is your inspiration for this collection?
Vivienne Tam: “It’s an urban romantic take on chinoiserie. Chinoiserie is the European imagination of China. I particularly like (Thomas) Chippendales’s work. He was a carpenter and interior decorator. He made murals and framed dressers.
Who are you collaborating with this season?
Vivienne Tam: “This season we are collaborating with Pandora.” For the show, hair & manicure was provided by Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa, make-up by MAC, Dr. Martens boots and Ozone socks.
What is your future plan for your fashion line?
Vivienne Tam: “I’d like more accessories, expand to menswear and (create) a whole lifestyle.”
What is your personal fashion style?
Vivienne Tam: “What I’m wearing, something that represents myself such as this collection, every piece of it. Urban Chic.”
Thank you so much to Vivienne Tam and her team for this interview.
