The Global Fashion Capital Fair and Fashion Show at The Fashion Institute of Technology

By Erica Hui

The Global Fashion Capital Fair and Fashion Show took place on October 13th 2015 at the Museum at FIT. Upon arrival, there was a display of panels that represents different countries such as Japan, China, Turkey, Spain, and Argentina.

All of the panels available at the student were quite interesting. For example at the Japanese panel, there were several makeup artists welcoming students to sign up for free hair and makeup application inspired from the Japanese culture. Another impressive panel represented Turkey, and they demonstrated the art of paper marbling. Finally, at the panel of China, the Award-winning Chinese actress, Lancy, showcased a couple of her best works from her new fashion business.

The Fashion show featured designers were Ricardo Seco (Mexico City), Arzu Kaprol (Istanbul), Marina Hoermanseder (Berlin), Lisa Folawiyo (Lagos), and Nana Lee (Seoul) and their work were absolutely breathtaking.

My favorite work is Nana Lee’s collection, especially her designs with the Korean alphabets on them.
