TEEN VOGUE Fashion University is the only educational program where the business of fashion is taught by its stars. Held annually in New York City, this exclusive three day event provides 500 young women who aspire to a career in the fashion industry the opportunity to learn from top designers, editors and fashion entrepreneurs, including Michael Kors, Alexander Wang, Jason Wu, Betsey Johnson, Peter Som, Rebecca Minkoff, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez of Proenza Schouler, Tamara Mellon of Jimmy Choo, Whitney Port and TEEN VOGUE’s EIC Amy Astley, among others.
ALEXANDER WANG: THE STREET KING
As a frontrunner in the fashion industry, Alexander Wang designs both womenswear and menswear collections that epitomize the ‘model-off-duty style’ with the perfect combination of grunge and simplicity. Wang discussed the inspiration behind his edgy collection and how he established himself in an industry that is constantly evolving.
Peter Som: The eclectic
Along with designing his award-winning signature collections, Peter Som designs Tommy Hilfiger’s elegant runway line and accessories. Som discussed how he maintains a balance between functionality and elegance throughout his collections.
JASON WU: THE CHOSEN ONE
Jason Wu, known best for the white chiffon gown he designed for Michelle Obama to wear at the Inaugural Gala in 2009, focuses on designing beautifully crafted pieces to compliment the female form. Wu discussed how he finds inspiration in elements from the past and present to define his design aesthetic.
