The lights dimmed and instrumental music drifted in from the speakers, Tadashi Shoji had everyone’s attention. The catwalk softly-lit almost humming with life as the first model appeared swathed in frosted silk.
The collection emphasis on soft pastel tones married with delicate prints and bodices of intricate lacework and interlaced crystals. Shoji’s new line, Sweet Liberation, transforms the women figure into an ethereal beauty that gives them the confidence to which the clothes radiate.
Shoji accounts for both evening wear and daytime dress. He contrasts the full lace gowns flowing down the runway with shorter and more fitted cocktail dresses, fringed with ostrich feathers and occasionally paired with embroidered tulle necklines.
Each piece perfectly complements the figure into a slightly curvaceous silhouette, using the flowing skirts to highlight hourglass figure, and embodying Shoji’s sung declaration of Sweet Liberation.
