On October 21st the Global Fashion Incubator Project returned to New York for it’s second annual designer showcase highlighting three new young Korean collections: Rokground, Drink Beer Save Water and Chungpepe.

Supported by the Korea Fashion Association, the Global Fashion Incubator Project handpicks a group of three promising Korean brands to nurture in their efforts to break into the US market. Through participating in The Global Fashion Incubator Project, each designer gains industry knowledge from a network of fashion mentors. These mentors offer insider access and advice that include topics such as press, marketing, sales and distribution. Behind the group is a powerhouse of influential voices, including NYLON’s Dani Stahl, Capsule’s Minya Quirk, Favors Agency’sCourtney Bonnell and Soussand Assoicates’ Philippe Soussand.

DESIGNERS:

Rokground
Rokground is a men’s accessories brand comprised of classic and vintage style tote bags, briefcases and structured backpacks. The collection features fine materials such as waxed canvas and hand painted vegetable leathers in solid classic colorways as well as with camo and distressed patterns.

Drink Beer Save Water
It started with an absurd idea of saving water by drinking beer. The designers were obviously drunk and young. But that whimsy carried into their menswear designs as an idea of using clothes as a social lubricant. Instead of limiting clothes as a way of looks, they used it to start up a conversation. When you are wearing a piece of DBSW, the clothing serves as a social icebreaker.

Chungpepe
Chungpepe draws inspiration from the beauty and simplicity of nature. The clothes are soft to the touch, yet exude a comfortable sophistication. Light knits, denim and cotton are transformed into loose tops, easy dresses and casual trousers. The brands ethos is “the design of Chungpepe will add the energy of nature to your beauty and make you unique”.
