What is modern? Could be the question that prefaces the Robert Geller Spring/Summer 2015 collection. Robert Geller offers an answer to that question by pulling back from past seasons narratives, allowing himself to focus on essential shapes and colors, hence carrying out his interpretation of modernity.
The collection exudes a feeling of ease and harmony underwritten by some kind of rawness, like the one expressed in a bold movement of a brush stroke of a modern painting. Leitmotiv print can be found throughout the collection fully covering jersey neoprene bonded jackets and shorts as well as bird’s eye jacquard knit sweaters, and partially grazing necklines and sleeves.
The rawness of the initial brush stroke is mirrored in the texture of dyed fabrics and nubuck leathers, while lightweight wools, Japanese jerseys and nylon bestow the collection with certain weightlessness. Summer wool coats magically appear tailored without losing their casual feel, and similarly ponte knits and neoprene contribute their shaping abilities to an effortless exploration of new volumes and proportions.
The color palette includes bright pastel tones, such as lilac and beige on backgrounds of black, white. grey, navy and different shades of red.
With Alexander Ferrario to Alexander Beck closing the show, the strong collection boasts a uniform, neutral color, which is accented by splashes of bold prints that is definitely pleasing to the guests.
