On September 8, 2013, Ricardo Seco proudly presents his Spring/Summer 2014 collection, “POWER”. Ricardo was born in Torreon, Coahuilla, Mexico and is considered to be one of Mexico’s most influential designers. Ricardo was a businessman for more than twelve years until he decided to pursue his passion for clothing. He went on to study design at the prestigious Marangoni Institute in Milan and Paris.

Throughout his career, Ricardo has established himself with creative partnerships, including the leading footwear company Converse and international brands Disney, and Casa Cuervo. With his designs internationally recognized, Ricardo has presented his work at the Museo Rufino Tamayo in Mexico City, as well as Fashion Week in Colombia and Miami. Ricardo was selected as Newcomer of the Year, as well as Designer of the Year by Quien Magazine in 2002. His first men’s collection debuted during New York Fashion Week in February 2012.

“POWER” personifies both a man and a city who acts with certainty in any occasion. The Shanghai and New York man lead sophisticated urban lifestyles that make the chaos of city life powerless. He is the one man who adapts to culture, makes things happen, uses wisdom and knows no limits. With urban silhouettes and varsity chic facets and a gray scale color palette infused with royal blue and fierce golden, the wool, cotton and cashmere fabrics of Seco’s Spring/Summer 2014 collection leave the city and the city man of Shanghai and NYC in “POWER” of their world.

During our exclusive interview with Ricardo Seco, we had the opportunity to take a closer look behind the curtains with the models and fashion outfits. There were a total of 22 outfits including jackets, shirt, and accessories displayed in the runway. Ricardo commented that it took him 5 months to create the pieces in this year’s collection. When he was in Shanghai, he was amused by the entire city. It felt similar to New York, but with an Eastern twist.

Ricardo chose his models based on their characteristics. He wanted the models to reflect the people walking in the streets of New York. At the end of our interview, Ricardo gave a piece of advice for the aspiring designers. “Believe in yourself and do not let anyone judge you. Fashion business is hard and it requires persistence and great patience.”
