Stepping down the wooden stairs of a private members club located in the heart of Soho, you’ve just entered a wonderland of Rebecca Minkoff’s. Bags, Bags, and more bags! Bags are all you can see when entering its’ basement.
They have decorated this snug space with a bunch of Minkoff’s lovely bags – on deep sofas, thick woolen carpets, and under the marble fireplace. Although they are quietly posed, they surely glowed under the yellow lighting- either with their rich hued colors, patent leather, or spiky embellishment. These smoky hot bags are ladylike shaped, BUT they are cooler and more modern, they are with Minkoff’s edgy and detailed design.
This vintage luxury theme of her collection is a reflection of Minkoff’s reinterpretation of a lifestyle of socialites, jet-setters and celebrities of the 60s and 70s. An inspiration taken from American photographer Slim Aaron’s photos. The duetone embroideries, floral prints, fringed hems are intermixed with Aaron’s trademark – melange of faded and saturated hues. Having had a glimpse of Minkoff’s collection, retro is the vibe, and we are all buying that.
