On Sep 5th at Lincoln Center, Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York featured a high fashion women and men clothing by siblings Nicholas and Christopher Kunz, Nicholas K. The designer sent models strutting down the runway in a “modern tribal warrior” makeup look for a show that was “heavily influenced by Native American tribal themes.”
“You’ll see a lot of buckskin color for the outerwear and a lot of earthen tones,” says Nicholas K designer Christopher Kunz.
“We’re from Arizona and we went to the Apache reservation and at an antique store we found shaman fans so it ignited the whole collection,” says Nicholas K designer Nicholas Kunz.
Spring 2014 Nicholas K’s collection was inspired by the Native American culture. The look is soft and comfortable for any time of the day. The Spring 2014 ensembles updates the laid-back look, with headbands and open-toe sandals. Models had their hair center-parted and straight to create a natural hair look rather than the suspected of messy bed hair. They wore earth-toned makeup creating the effect of warm-brown mud creating a tribal and native effect.
“I’m loving the nude face. It looks amazing – it feels fresh,” says Essence Magazine Beauty Director Aretha Busby.
