With the intent of creating lightweight pieces and maintaining the sheer elegance for the spring, Monique Lhuillier’s showcase embodied both through the use of thin silks and pastel colors in her Spring 2014 collection.
Monique Lhuillier is internationally recognized as one of the foremost couture bridal and ready-to-wear designers. Her first few pieces from the collection were organza looks in very light pastels with metallic threading that set the tone for the rest of the collection.
Followed by a set of lace pieces in shades of orange and reds, some with detachable jeweled collars and some with a full bodice of floral.
Typically known for her extravagant gowns, Lhuillier wanted to also emphasize clothing for women on a daily basis; pieces that can be worn throughout the day and versatile for all occasions.
In this Spring 2014 collection, she shows off her crafts of daywear and evening gowns that are still her best works. Particularly the pieces of bandeau-and-ball skirt combos in silk gazar. A collection full of simplicity and chic.
Lhuillier grew up in Cebu City and studied in Saint Theresa’s College, continuing on to a finishing school in Switzerland. As a teenager, she was an outstanding student in Lausanne and dreamed of becoming a successful fashion designer. Today, Lhuillier has become a celebrity favorite for both wedding and red carpet gowns. Her list of clientele includes Gwyneth Paltrow, Reese Witherspoon, Kristen Stewart, Drew Barrymore, Hilary Swank, Jennifer Lopez, Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood and more.
