Monique Lhuillier presented a romantic dark side of couture at the Theatre in Lincoln Center. This Fall 2014 is all about being bold and dramatic. Lhuillier incorporated her signature femininity with modern architectural details, and Old World Parisian.
First thing to notice, Lhuillier used the bold color of fuchsia against black. Fuchsia definitely pops in the collection. The use of unexpected abstract skeletal embroidery and print, and the use of patent leather belts brought the couture collection to a more modern level. Lhuillier also did a twist on the trench coat by incorporating it with cotton lace with vinyl. With the grand setting of the Theatre, the models seemed to portray the powerful women in society while maintaining their femininity.
Lhuillier’s bridal gowns are always stunning. It was an honor to view her other side in this collection. We can’t wait to see what direction her future designs will take.
