On Wednesday, February 5, at 1:00 P.M., we covered the JSong and …Way Collections for Fall 2014 at its new home: 149B West 36th Street, Ground Floor in New York City. “J Song is a label of hand-craft clothing created to spread joy and song through unique designs and services,” which id the Mission statement of JSong, and that’s what I felt today.
Having to move to a new location, on top of the slushy weather, Way Zen, the designer, still managed to present her Fall ’14 collection: Shirts’ Tale. She took about three weeks to finish 20 looks. She added, “Designing is all about making the impossible possible.” Her passion in Fashion had beautifully brought together her collection.
The collection was full of black, white, wine, gold and a pop of ruby red and burnt orange. Shirts played an important role in this collection. From the collection, we can see how shirts can be styled in unique ways, and performed with different attitudes. Way Zen was searching for a sustainable structure for business and life. Zen was inspired by the flexibility of shirts, which is both beautiful and functional. For example, a navy wool four pockets shirt styled with a burgundy slit skirt, a rust floral jacket pants suit with a white cotton shirt, and a black cotton tuxedo tunic with a burnt orange shirt. Zen explained: “ When it is worn outside, it shows off its splendid beauty. When it is worn under a jacket or coat, it expresses its humbleness to compliment the wearer’s style.”
Shirts’ Tale is JSong’s first step in working toward a sustainable business future. As we are living in a very unsustainable world, it is very difficult to be sustainable, or to start from zero when everything is pure. Zen again is making the impossible possible under this unsustainable world. She showed us how shirts can be timeless pieces, and sustainable pieces. JSong plans to use its experience to grow and contribute in the JSong and…Way to make the world a better place.
