Falguni & Shane Peacock have built a career in fashion by following their own set of rules. The secret of their success is the unique and unusual styling and attention to detail they give to each design to create “Luxury”. From their Fall 2013 collection during New York Fashion Week, we totally experience the strength and power of every piece. The clothes is perfect for a rock and roll superstar like Eve.
The collection featured a lot of exposed backs and exposed zips with dominant dark hues leading to high collars and horizontal fronts, black stockings and elbow gloves, invoking an Erté influence. Also noticed is the unorthodox mix of stripes and prints and colors like turquoise and black in very short skirts and plunging v-necks to long draping mermaid skirts. They use their signature feathers to good effect in a long simmering cape.
The designers have created their modern-day girl, a wild child, pieced together from sharp silhouettes of metallic looking ornamental pieces at odds and against the fragile feminine curves of the models, outlined by soft silks of delicacy and pieces in see-through lace. The interplay and struggle between certain definitions of womanly elegance give birth to this sequined dashing drama. The tension of shimmering and visionary ambiguous metallic jacquard strikes the conflict of two concepts.
The mix of classic femininity with “a level of badassery.” This illusion, this twist engendered by the designers, forms another haute couture looking creation coveted by the likes of the Gagas, Osbournes and Madonnas of this world.
