Following the androgyny trend, Duckie Brown unveiled its SS16 menswear collection at this year’s New York Fashion Week: Men’s. Designers Steven Cox and Daniel Silver have been constructing a fluid gender narrative for years now.
The collection was all about simple and elegant genderless dressing. Co-designers Steven Cox and Daniel Silver put a new twist on the status quo by debuting pieces that could easily cross over gender lines.
With an emphasis on craftsmanship and lightweight fabrics, Duckie Brown’s SS16 collection did not disappoint. With the blurring of gender lines growing more pronounced daily, Duckie Brown is determined to make sheer organza blouses and high-waisted trousers for men the new “thing.”
The collection focused on cooler hues such as grey and blue, but a hint of yellow and orange were thrown in for good measure. The hand tailoring of the pieces were apparent in the button-down shirts and ¾ length tees.
A variety of textures made their way into this collection from silk trousers to the organza tees that peeked out from underneath boxy blazers and sheer/chiffon shirts.
Each item was loose and oversized – a nod to the functionality of each individual piece. It’s the versatility of the collection that makes Duckie Brown an emerging leader in the wave of gender-neutral designs.
Over all the collection was understated and youthful and sprinkled with a good old fashion gender-bending vibe that never goes out of style.
