Denibi Fall Winter 2017 Fashion Show

By Alice Chin

I attended my first Denibi Show and am now a fan of the Barcelona based brand founded by Fadel Denibi. This season, parts of his collection was based on Denibi’s first oil painting titled Agatha, which was inspired by an animated series that Fadel watched as a child.

The main character was an enigmatic, curious, feminine and smart girl. Agatha’s femininity is represented by the different flower-inspired shapes visible in the collection. The enigmatic aura of Agatha also represented by beautifully crafted high collars. The collection is demure and lady like, with playful and artistic touches.

I loved the architectural folds and layers. I’m in love with the Utopia Mask backpack which is consists of a handmade mask made with pure Bois rouge d-Afrique wood made in Senegal and designed by Denibi.

Some of my favorites include an ivory futuristic kimono with classic pencil skirt. The asymmetric cashmere coat in camel and sea foam blue was another favorite. This was a unique, lovely, and wearable collection and I look forward to seeing more of Denibi’s work.
