Born in Honduras and educated at the Fashion Institute of Technology, Carlos Campos has been famously known for combining modernity with tradition by utilizing contemporary uniforms to reflect the current lifestyles with the hints of the past. Particularly, all his works are immensely inspired by the South American heritage specifically the Aztec, Mayan, and Incan cultures.
At this particular Spring 2012 Menswear Presentation at Milk Studios, Carlos Campos yet again demonstrated his casual aesthetics by delivering means of individuality through the vibrancy of the ethnic cultures. Above all, Campos elegantly explores different colors such as coral red, golden yellow, royal blue and other colors affiliated with South America to present a unique look of vitality and utility of outwear.
Color blocking has a large presence in this spring collection and all outwear are reconstructed with asymmetrical color blocking details to exhibit the fusion of classic and contemporary with the sole purpose of allusion to his native South American cultures.
Generally speaking, Carlos Campos Presentation Guide illustrates that “Pockets are manipulated throughout the collection to include flap pockets on double-breasted jackets and patch pockets on single-breasted suit jackets. Double breasted trench coats boast elongated pockets and waistband pull strings thus marking the beginning of the lab coat. Shirt-inspired jackets with four signature pockets create a union between outerwear and shirts”. Clearly, Campos has made sure that all outwear are reconstructed with meticulous details to embody the theme of utility.
