The seventh day was not a day of rest during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. Lincoln Center’s final show of the Spring/Summer 2015 season fused fashion and philanthropy at the Art Hearts Fashion show.
The AIDS Healthcare Foundation, the largest non-profit HIV/AIDS healthcare provider in the United States, curated the eight-part occasion. Designer and philanthropist Erik Rosete established the event in 2011. The event has, “grown to become a premier platform for designers to showcase their collections in a contemporary runway setting,” according to the show’s program. The collections are, “from the world’s freshest,” and most “artistically inspired,” talent.
Designers Mister Triple X, Control Sector, Gregorio Sanchez, Shrekahnth, Hallie Sara, Altaf Maaneshia, MTCostello and Amato presented their remarkably creative collections one after another. Designs ranged from bondage with Mister Triple X, to clean, modern lines with Control Sector, to intricate ball gowns from MTCostello and Amato. Attendees watched intently and clapped for their favorite show-stopping pieces and people.
Not only did the AHF show draw over one thousand people, but many were familiar faces. Celebrities like: Jaslene Gonzalez of America’s Next Top Model, Lily Ghalichi, Shaun Ross and Alex Minsky walked in some of the shows.
Others, like Angela Simmons enjoyed from the front row. Fashion fanatics alike watched the best of the best strut their stuff—and for a great cause to boot.
The Art Hearts Fashion Week reminded fashion’s elite that giving back will never go out of style.
