Spanish designer Antonio Garcia showed his collection “El Sur” at Style.Uz Art Week 2013 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan this week. His inspiration was the south of Spain.

Antonio Garcia is a fashion designer born in Seville, Spain. He has staged catwalk shows as part of major fashion events such as Russion Fashion Week, fashion shows in the Czech Republic, Tokyo, New York and Barcelona. Antonio Garcia has also created costumes for films television shows and theater plays as well as for the European Film Festival.

I spoke to Mr. Garcia after his show and he said that people usually think of bullfights, flamenco, and matadors when they think of Spain, but he wanted to give another perspective, his idea of Southern Spain. Set against a backdrop of a digital image of bright pink flowers, the elegant and feminine designs reflected nature with vibrant colors and floral and bird motifs. Standout designs included a purple long sleeved gown with a thigh level slit.
