Taiwan born Cellist turned jewelry designer Anna Hu, who’s become known in luxury circles for creating one-of-a-kind baubles that blend Eastern design and European craftsmanship, she has many celebrities fans such as Drew Barrymore , Gwyneth Paltrow, Natalie Portman, Madonna, Scarlett Johansson and Hilary Swank.Anna Hu has many awards ever since she started creating her own design. She received the 2011 “Artistic Vision of the Year” award from the China Institute at ceremony in Manhattan, the youngest person to have been awarded. In 2012 Anna is awarded “International Jewelry Designer of the Year” by ELLE China.
The designer launched her own brand at 32 after working with luminaries such as Christie’s, Van Cleef & Arpels, and Harry Winston. In 2008, Anna opened her flagship boutique in the Plaza Hotel in New York.
The New York-based designer Anna Hu made history last year when she became the first Asian jeweler to be featured in a solo exhibition at the Louvre’s Museum of Decorative Arts in Paris.
Now Anna Hu Haute Joaillerie breaks the world records for a Chinese contemporary jewelry artist at Christie’s auction house in Hong Kong. The final bid price of her art piece – The “Orpheus” ring is $2,592,663. Simply stunning!
