The 40th International Emmy Awards was hosted at the New York Hilton Hotel on November 19th, 2012 by Regis Philbin, who was a host 24 years ago and was thrilled to be back. At the Gala event, the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced the winners of the Emmy Awards. The winners come from six countries, which include Argentina, Australia, Brazil, France, Germany and the United Kingdom. AsianInNY had the pleasure to attend the event and to witness such amazing and talented actors and actresses.
Jessica Lange, who is a two time Academy Award & Emmy Winner, presented the International Emmy Founders Award to Ryan Murphy, the creator, writer and director of television shows Glee , American Horror Story and Nip/Tuck. These are very popular American Television series that people usually rush home after work to watch! Episodes that one cannot miss out on!
After Murphy received his award, he presented the 2 special 40th Anniversary Founders Awards to global television legends, actor and director Alan Alda (*M*A*S*H *), and writer and producer Norman Lear (All in The Family).
Musician, producer and entrepreneur J.Y. Park presented the 2012 International Emmy Directorate Award to Dr. Kim In-Kyu, President & CEO of Korean Broadcasting System.
There are many great programs and performances but nine International Emmy Award Winning programs and performances were announced that evening and they are as follows:
Songs of War (Arts Programming)
Darío Grandinetti (Best Performance by an Actor)
Cristina Banegas (Best Performance by an Actress)
The Invisible Woman (Comedy)
Terry Pratchett: Choosing to Die (Documentary)
Braquo season 2 (Drama Series)
The Amazing Race Australia (Non-Scripted Entertainment)
The Illusionist (Telenovela), and Black Mirror (TV Movie/Mini-Series)

Academy President Bruce L. Paisner states that “[t]he International Academy is proud to be shining the spotlight on the world’s best television programming and performances, for the last 40 years, and we congratulate tonight’s winners for their outstanding achievements as they enter into Emmy history.”
This was definitely a night to remember. All the winners deserved to win their respective awards. We will continue to support the best television programming and performances out there and we cannot wait to see the upcoming shows of 2013. Lets see what the 41th International Emmy Awards has in-stored for us!
