2019 New York Comic Con will take place at Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York, from October 3rd to 6th. This year, Taipei Cultural Center in New York invites the winner of Golden Comic Awards of Taiwan, comics artist Chen Wen-sheng to showcase at the artist alley and interact with comics fans, and meanwhile promote Taiwanese original comics work.
Chen has loved comics and animation since childhood. He was inspired by one of his favorites artists, Mobia. Chen’s first job is layout artist at Hung Kuang Animation Company. Ever since then, he has dedicated himself to animation and comics. Chen participated in the animation works by the British cartoon channel, Cartoon Network, in the art exhibition of Taipei Dangdai, as well as in creation of children book illustrations.
In 2007, Chen was nominated by I Castelli Animati International Animated Film Festival in Italy. In 2011, he officially competed in the Festival de Bande Dessinée in Switzerland with his work A WORLD BENEATH OUR FEET. In 2016, Chen, with his fantasy comic work BAKER, was awarded “The Best New Artist” by the 7th Golden Comic Awards of Ministry of Culture.
New York Comic Con is the United States’ most visited comic con and pop culture reunion. Each year, it takes place at Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in the beginning of October, and attracts over tens of thousands of fans and professionals. Last year, it attracted 250 thousands of attendees, which surpasses San Diego International Comic Con and becomes the United States’ most visited comic con and pop culture reunion.
