An advertisement promoting travel in Taiwan is appearing in New York City’s Times Square starting Nov 20th today and will continue through New Year’s Eve. This will be the fourth year in a row that a Taiwan Tourism travel advertisement rings in the new year with Times Square revelers.
Deputy director-general of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in New York Mr. Alex Fan said. “Promoting Taiwan’s stunning natural environment and diverse cultural features at Times Square will increase the country’s global visibility and attract visitors to travel to Taiwan.”
In order to promote Taiwan, Taiwan Tourism Bureau entrusted Thomson Reuters to run an advertising campaign at Times Square from Thanksgiving to New Years Eve for a total of 42 days. The ads will be displayed on Thomson Reuters Sign and NASDAQ Tower targeting the tourists during three largest events including Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year Eve. The video “Anytime for Taiwan” will be played 30 seconds per time and 2.5 minutes total per every hour.
“New York is a world-famous tourist destination, attracting over 50 million worldwide visitors each year, especially the Times Square, a major commercial intersection in Midtown Manhattan,” said Thomas Chang, director of the Taiwan Tourism Bureau New York. “It’s important that we target this audience by having continuous advertising messages in front of them to promote Taiwan tourism”.
The short video ads will cover such broad topics as Taiwan’s religions, local cultures, aboriginal tribes, hot springs, modern culture, mountaineering, technology, food, international airlines and the popular Taipei 101 building.
