May is Asian Pacific Islander American (APIA) Heritage Month, and also holds the Second Annual Cherry Blossom Cocktail Party on May 15, which was hosted by NAAAP-NY, Deutsche Bank Multicultural Partnership, China Institute Young Associates & Asian Mentoring Committee of BBBS plus the Community Partners: JP Morgan AsPIRE, Wells Fargo Asian Connection, Marks Paneth & Shron, and TAP-NY in the Japan Society.
Festivities for the evening included a photo booth with heritage-related props, an open bar with catered Asian-inspired hors d’oeuvres, and of course, major networking opportunities! Heritage Month kicked off with a welcome from Congressman Charles Rangel, of New York’s 13th District.
In addition, the evening featured performances from NYC Girls Dance, who performed traditional Asian cultural dances, and the New York University Rhythm Impulse (NYURI), who showcased the art of the traditional Korean drums (poongmul). The party was great and provided an opportunities for attendees to network and also access the exhibition at Japan Society, “Treasures of Japan” art exhibit from The Brooklyn Museum. We absolutely had an amazing time and got to meet a few hardworking Asian Americans who are supporting the communities!
