Queens Center Mall Host Annual Lunar New Year Celebration with an Event-Filled Activities and Performance

Queens Center Mall kicked off the Year of Rat Festival on Jan 25th with lion dance, cultural performance, live music and an interactive area for children with hands-on experiences where they can learn such crafts as Red Envelope Lantern and Year of Rat Placemat!

The Lunar New Year, the start of the lunar calendar in Asian tradition, attracts people of all cultures and ages make their way to events around the city to celebrate the Year of the Rat. Queens Center Mall — located at 90-15 Queens Blvd. in Elmhurst — has been hosting Annual Lunar New Year Festival since 2014. This year’s celebration was no exception, attendees were entertained by non-stop stage performance from 12-3pm with many vendors participating from the mall.

New York Hung Sing Kwoon’s three lions kicked off this year’s Lunar New Year event with a form of traditional dance in which performers mimic lions’ movements in a lion costume to bring good luck and fortune to the attendees and participating stores.

Audience was also dazzled by beautiful Chinese dance presented by Ashley Liang Dance Center; singing performance by Pamela J Powell; live music by QM International Arts Center, K-pop dance by Amber Lee and hip-pop dance group the Power Girls.
