Press Conference of “Taiwan Night at the Mets”

Direct Ang Lee, Comptroller John Liu, The Chairman band

Last year, the Taiwanese American community hosted the Taiwan Night at the Mets Citi Field on Mid-Autumn festival in September.  The Chairman band from Taiwan, TAA-NY chorus and a flight attendant that competed in Taiwan’s singing show “Star Boulevard” performed in the stadium. It was the first game between the Mets and the Nationals after Chien-Ming Wang came back from rehab and world renowned director Ang Lee also joined the event with the first pitch. Between the innings, the Mets arranged games for our fans; some answered questions and some passed pizza boxes for prizes as they were all shown on the big screen.

This year, the event has invited the #1 female golfer, Taiwan’s very own Yani Tseng to take part in the stadium. She will be throwing out the ceremonial first pitch and there is also a planned face time with fans. The Mets will also be honoring McDonald’s along with other sponsors with “Spirit Award” for their contribution to the Taiwanese and Asian communities. TAA-NY chorus, McDonald’s martial art dance crew, Jumping Princes will be part of the performance program starting on 6:30 pm.

Taiwan Tourism Bureau

Taiwan Tourism Bureau is also on deck to promote Taiwan tourism. First 10,000 fans will receive special gift from the bureau. The event sponsors have secured seats at the field box level starting at section 126.  The price of the ticket is only $40 which is lower than the normal price for these seats.

Taiwan Night 2012 is on April 9th and the festivities start on 6PM. Citi Field is located only one stop away from Flushing, one of the largest Asian community in New York City and conveniently reachable by the 7 train or highway.
