On Nov 11th at 3pm, organizers including Tai-Ke New York, Passport to Taiwan Festival and AsianInNY.com of the annual “Hello Taiwan Rocks!” Concert held a press conference at Taiwan Center in Flushing Queens to announce the details of the 3rd “Hello Taiwan Rocks!” Concert. Mr. Daniel Nigro, Fire Chief during the recovery of the September 11th attack, has accepted “Hello Taiwan Rocks!” organizers’ invitation to send FDNY firefighters to attend the 11/17 concert.
This is the 3rd year of ” Hello Taiwan Rocks!” concert and this time the event is bringing more amazing musicians as well as a theme of Taiwan Night Market to kick off the Thanksgiving weekend. This is definitely a night not to miss where attendees can get to enjoy a night of Taiwanese night market snacks, popular Taiwan Beer and 4 live bands on Nov 17th from 6-10pm at Taiwan Center in Flushing New York.
Due to the recent severe damage caused by Hurricane Sandy, the “Hello Taiwan Rocks!” organizers have decided that the concert proceeds will go the Hurricane Sandy Relief effort; in particular, to the Breezy Point firemen whose houses were burned down since many of them were the first responders at 9/11 terrorist attack and now are homeless.
New York City has long been one of the leading centers of indie music movement. Within it, Taiwanese musicians are also in the scene making music and hoping one day in reaching to the top. Flushing is where many of the Taiwanese immigrants settle when they first arrive in New York, and Taiwan Center was established to be the community hub for all Taiwanese events. Though the concert is only in its third year, the organizers wish it to be an annual tradition to provide an opportunity for the indie bands to showcase their music and for the younger generation to unite, celebrate and network.
Also, due to the high demand, the organizers have also added the popular Taiwanese culture, Taiwan Night Market, to bring all the participants some of Taiwan’s most iconic snacks such as rice dumplings, fish cakes, oyster vermicelli and Taiwanese sausage to serve before the concert starts so everyone will get a chance to eat, mingle and network. All the food and drink vendors who are exhibiting will be at the event throughout the night so everyone can enjoy the performance and taste all the delicious famous Taiwan small eats at the same time! And did we say Taiwan Beer? An icon of Taiwanese culture, Taiwan Beer remains the Taiwan’s best-selling beer brand and is one of the most recognized brands in Taiwan’s business world.
Four bands who are celebrating the Thanksgiving and help to raise the money for the hurricane Sandy Relief include the Hsu-Nami, Ya Han & Friends, Black Lotus, and Giga Herb. These amazing musicians and bands will sure use their live music to rock your night and get you in a happy mood for a great Saturday night!
