After nearly going out of business a year ago due to a massive rent hike, Pearl River Mart, a 46-year-old family-owned Asian emporium, is opening its second location this Thursday Nov. 16th at the world famous Chelsea Market.
A small business success story amidst an increasingly challenging retail landscape, the re-launch of Pearl River was orchestrated by the husband-and-wife owners’ daughter-in-law, an Ivy League-educated attorney-turned-entrepreneur. They continue to work hand-in-hand to preserve the store’s original mission of cultural exchange while expanding into new territory.
Debuting November 16, the 3,500 square foot location will feature a curated assortment of Pearl River’s best-selling items from their home décor, fashion, kitchenware and food categories as well as capsule collections created by Asian American designers and entrepreneurs.
