Organized by experienced and widely connected staff members, MOI’M Gala 2014: Showtime took its guests to a new level of networking and partying in New York City. In collaboration with renowned Korean artists Gary (Leessang) & Jungin, MOI’M brought its next groundbreaking event to premier venue New York City Gotham Hall on September 20, 2014.
MOI’M Gala 2014: Showtime gala was well attended by over 500 guests from a selective Korean, Korean American, and Asian American population, who come from a diverse panorama of educational, economic, and social backgrounds. Throughout the night, guests were treated with a cocktail reception and hors d’oeuvres, a three-course dinner, full premium open bar, fun activities and giveaways.
The gala ceremony was opened by co-founders of MOI’M, Yeong Lim and Doyoon Kim. There were various entertainment programs including a beatboxer performance by Sung Lee; mentalist and magician Mike Kirschnner; and a beautiful live jazz band by Jinwoo Lee, Myung Won Kim, Hyung Jin Choi, Joonsam Lee, Joochan Im and Hye Jeung Kang.
Then Kyung B. Yoon, the Executive Director and Co-Founder of KACF gave a keynote speech to share her experience when she joined the AAJA organization. Kyung shared her experiences as the first Korean-American broadcast reporter in New York, inspiring the audience to prioritize community and each other over the superficial ideal of “being #1.” It was truly inspirational.
The highlight of the night was when Gary (Leessang) & Jungin, the popular duo performed at MOI’M Gala 2014: Showtime gala. They have gained a sizable following outside of Asia and they are known for their music for the soul and their captivating command of the stage that resonate with music fans beyond the Korean peninsula. They together performed some of their biggest hit songs, such as “Ballerino,” “Your Scent,” and “Rush.” Audience were all screaming and kept their feet moving when the duo rocked the stage.
Aspiring to be the leading Korean Networking Organization in the U.S. and abroad, MOI’M prides itself in organizing events that provide individuals with the opportunity to not only expand their professional networks, but also meet individuals who become important parts of their personal lives.
At previous MOI’M events, guests have found new career opportunities, and met potential colleagues, mentors, and mentees. In addition, MOI’M events are perfect opportunities to create both professional relationships and friendships with individuals from different schools and fields.
