On Wednesday, January 29, 2014, Asian In NY was honored to attend the Asian American Business Development Center’s Lunar Year Gala in celebration of the Year of the Horse. The celebration was held on the 13th floor of Macy’s, located on 151 West 34th Street, in Manhattan.

This event provided an opportunity for all the leading Asian Communities in New York to unite and celebrate the Lunar New Year together. Other than feeling grateful to be able to meet the rest of the Asian family in such a busy time of the year, we were also grateful to feature the works of Mr. Xinle Ma. Ma’s paintings of horses were presented all over the gathering room of Macy’s, which highlighted and honored the celebration of the year of the horse.

Throughout the event, there was a strong sensibility of tradition and warmth. The Lion Dance and Fortune God, which are staples of Chinese tradition and customs, welcomed us to the event. Many of the guests also dressed in accents of traditional Chinese costumes. Wine and traditional Chinese dim sums were served. Edward Jay Goldberg, Senior Vice President of Macy’s Public Affairs, and John Wang, President of AABDC, gave their welcoming greetings to all the attendees. Lastly, Elizabeth Wang, Founder of the Chinese Culture Foundation, honored the “Distinguished Artist” Mr. Xinle Ma. Other distinguished guests included Commissioner Adams, Dep. Consul General Cheng, and Assmbelyman Weprin.

It was a great night of reunion. We can see the vibrant spirits of Asian American Communities who are constantly making contributions to our society. For this New Year to come, we are looking forward to see the Asian American Communities play an effective role in New York ‘s thriving future.

Let’s not stop the Celebration of the Year of the Horse! Join us at, our upcoming event, a Lunar New Year Parade in Atlantic City. For more information please visit: http://www.asianinny.com/?p=37822
