The Korean American Community Foundation (KACF) hosted its annual gala on Wednesday, October 30 at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square. The Korean American Community Foundation transforms and empowers communities through philanthropy, volunteerism and inter-community bridge building. The Gala celebrates the work of KACF’s grantee partners and the individuals and organizations that bolster KACF’s critical work. Since its inception in 2002, KACF has awarded $3.3 million to non-profit organizations on the frontlines of helping the most vulnerable members of our community.
At this year’s gala, KACF honored John Y. Kim, Chairman and CEO of New York Life Investment Management, and welcomed Martha Choe, Chief Administrative Officer of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, as the Keynote Speaker.
“Not only is Mr. John Kim a business leader, but as a former Board member and a current member of KACF’s President’s Council, he has continuously demonstrated his dedication to supporting the Korean American community,” explained gala co-chair and KACF Board member, Sang Cho.
“We are delighted that Martha Choe is our Keynote Speaker this year, especially since Hurricane Sandy prevented her from attending last year’s Gala, and we always admire her experiences as a philanthropic and community leader,” says KACF Executive Director, Kyung Yoon.
