March 17, 2013 was a day of full of cheers and it wasn’t all because it was St. Patrick’s Day. Comptroller John Liu started his campaign for mayor on the steps of City Hall, where hundreds of supports flooded to watch and listen to Mr. Liu. He vowed to represent “not of the one percent, but of the 100 percent.” Mr. Liu understands the struggles and challenges a hard-working New Yorker has to face because he has faced them himself. He talked about changes of housing, better public education, and more job creations.
The rich are only getting richer, while the hard-working are just trying to get by. John Liu will try to make things easier for senior citizens, working mothers, Immigrant breadwinners, small business owners, struggling teachers and students, whom many showed up, in support for John Liu as Mayor. Mr. Liu said “Come here, work hard, dream big, and work even harder, and if you do all that, you have a chance to make good.” Many of us came here with big dreams and we all work hard to achieve that dream. As we continue to work even harder opportunities will come our way.
We live in a city of ‘opportunities’ … and it this very opportunity in which an Asian American is making an impact towards our community. We, AsianInNY, champion a fellow Asian American, John C. Liu, for running for the mayor of New York City!
