Japan Week NY 2014 Starts at Grand Central Terminal’s Vanderbilt Hall

The 3rd annual celebration of Japanese culture and cuisine in Grand Central Terminal’s Vanderbilt Hall, Japan Week NY starts today. Founded in 2012, Japan Week is a promotional tourism event aiming to encourage travel to Japan. It is a cooperative effort between the Japan Tourism Agency, diverse businesses, and local Japanese governments. 

Japan Week 2014 program will spotlight unique features of Japanese culture from the last 100 years to the present. Delectable regional foods, technology exhibits, traditional arts and performances will aim to inspire greater understanding of Japan and travel to the country.

In honor of Tokyo Station’s centennial, Japan Week will showcase a special “digital archive” using high definition computer graphics with a virtual reality world to bring the past into the future. You can freely experience the inside of a virtual space with an unparalleled presence to experience what it was like 100 years ago in Japan. Additionally, lucky winners in a contest will receive the grand prize for a free round trip ticket to Japan.

March 6 is 11am – 11pm.

March 8 is 10am – 7pm.
