Japan Week Features Japan Trip, Food, Giveaway & 3D Trick Art installation

Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) New York Office celebrated the conclusion of their seventh annual Japan Week at Grand Central Terminal from March 14-17, gathering a great amount of visitors. Those who attended experienced the very latest in Japanese culture, food, travel and technology.

In addition to the popular exhibitors who display each year, Japan Week featured a wide array of the very latest in 3D Trick Art – Japan’s most recent artistic trend. Trick Art is a large-scale interactive medium that seemingly adds a third dimension, creating the illusion that the depicted objects really exist. Visitors to Japan Week “stepped into” works of 3D Trick Art and recorded hundreds of ultimate selfies and more. They also had the opportunity to enter a photo contest by posting these photos with the Japan Week hashtag on Instagram. Among the 951 post entries, ten lucky winners will be selected to win an assortment of goods provided by the event’s sponsors.

In addition to the artwork, different exhibitor booths gained popularity as well. Not only did visitors experience the latest in modern Japanese art, the Japan Week booths also provided visitors Japanese culture, food, and beneficial information for those who were considering traveling to Japan.

Some booths used VR/AR technology for visitors to experience Japanese culture firsthand. Others had available merchandise that used traditional Japanese craftsmanship for those who were more interested in authentic culture. There were also several delicious foods and beverages served, as well as fun raffles with the ultimate prize being a trip to Japan. All in all, the booths were enjoyed by visitors of all ages, and enabled them to become more involved and interested in Japan.

Visitors to Japan Week received free Japanese tourism materials and expert travel tips while experiencing the arts, merchandise, food and culture of Japan.
