Flushing BID unveiled the newly reconstructed information booth

Board of Downtown Flushing Transit Hub Business Improvement District (Flushing BID), joined City councilman Peter Koo; Deputy Inspector Keith Shine of NYPD 109 PCT; Director Yang Zeng of Queens Library at Flushing; Senior Project Manager Jose Trucios of NYC Department of Small Business Services; representatives from State Senator Toby Ann Stavisky, NYC Comptroller Scott Stringer, Community Board 7 and other community partners to officially cut the ribbon on the newly reconstructed Flushing BID information booth Flushing Cultural Pavilion.

Designed by Yook Chan, the Flushing Cultural Pavilion which incorporated the vision of the Flushing stakeholders was selected through a competition in 2018. Chan’s design enables the Flushing BID information booth to be a multi-purpose center to serve the community throughout the seasons and holidays.

The pavilion has black frame finish and transparent glass on all four sides. The simplicity in form and the use of contemporary materials: metal and glass are a complement to the Flushing Library, LIRR and the urban fabric of downtown Flushing.

It features modern wayfinding technologies such as digital community event display to provide visitors, residents, and businesses with critical information; and three interior media walls to accommodate the gallery mode and stage mode. The funding for the booth construction was raised through the BID’s 2019 Gala.

Located in the heart of downtown Flushing, with over 100,000 pedestrians walking by, this revamped Flushing BID information booth will be the only public building of its kind to offer a culture gallery, a stage for the community works, and an invaluable resource center connecting the outside visitors, local businesses, community organizations, government agencies, and residential services located in the community.
