China Institute Put Together a Fun Chinese New Year Family Festival

Participants had tons of fun at the Year of the Rat Festival with China Institute’s signature Lunar New Year Celebration for families on Feb 2nd at 40 Rector Street in New York.

The Chinese New Year Family Festival opened with a lion dance followed by New Year-themed workshops and activities including dumpling making, lantern-making with Sarah Wang, educational music instrument workshops with musician Zhou Yi, paper cutting with paper portrait cutter Ming Liang Lu, and a special Year of the Rat puppet show by Chinese Theatre Works.

Attendees also got a chance to visit the “The Art of Chinese New Year,” an interactive installation celebrating the Chinese New Year holiday and its traditional visual and performance arts.
