The Columbus Day Parade took place on Monday, October 8, 2012, and AsianInNY was invited by the President of International Columbia Association Mr. Vincent A. Tummino to walk the parade with his organization. It was a wonderful experience and we are there to support the path to true “Inter-Cultural Alliance”!
The International Columbia Association was officially founded on November 15, 2006, by Vincent A. Tummino, retired member of the New York City Fire Department. Mr. Tummino has served as President of the Columbia Association FDNY for 9 years and has served on the Board of Directors for over 15 years. He has been appointed as Ambassador of this Association.
The Columbus Day Parade has been organized by the Columbus Citizens Foundation in New York since 1929. Over 35,000 people participate in the Columbus Day Parade in New York City each year, including over 100 groups, with bands, floats and contingents. The parade attracts nearly one million spectators and is the largest celebration of Italian-American culture in the world.
