Paige McPherson is a U.S. Olympic taekwondo competitor who won a bronze medal in the 67kg women’s taekwondo event. In 2009, McPherson won the Outstanding Female Athlete award at the USAT National Championships, and in 2011, she won a silver medal at the Pan American Games. McPherson who is known as “Fierce” is half Filipino and half African American. She was born in Abilene, Texas and was adopted. She attends Miami-ad College in Florida after graduating from Black Hills Classical Christian Academy in 2009.
Kyla Ross is an American artistic gymnast. She contributed to the winning of the gold medal for the American team by scoring 14.933 on uneven bars and 15.133 on balance beam. Ross was born in Honolulu on October 24, 1996, making her the youngest Olympic gymnast in Team USA. Ross is a two-time U.S. junior all-around champion. She also finished second all-around at the Pacific Rim Championship in March 2012. At the City of Jesolo Trophy competition in Italy, Ross won all-around gold. Ross’ father is of Japanese and Black descent, and her mother is of Filipino and Puerto Rican descent.
Lily Zhang is a Chinese-American table tennis player who competed in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. She was one of three young Chinese American women who represented Team USA. In 2009, Zhang won the Canadian junior open singles event. At the 2011 Pan American Game, Zhang won a singles bronze medal and a team bronze with her teammates, Hsing and Wu.
