Apex for Youth Inspiration Awards, an award to successful individuals who are role models for our youth was presented for the 24th time on April 13, 2016. Honorees receive plaques for their achievements and are presented with a special certificate at the end of the night. Having actors from shows such as “Fresh off the Boat” appear along with members of the Black Eyed Peas appear during the event to accept awards, this nonprofit gala and the primary purpose is to raise funds for our youth. In an instant the room is filled with a variety of industries and most of the companies have a presence in NYC, showing their main goal of making a difference in undeserved Asian immigrant youth in NYC.
Attendees were presented with a red carpet gala event paired with members from Cipriani to complete catering and drink requests for their guests. During the two hour event, guests were presented with an open bar, food, and dessert while enjoying the speeches and festivities of the night.
This year’s honorees included apl.de.ap of the musical group The Black Eyed Peas; Norman C.T. Liu, Chairman of GE Capital Aviation Services; and Hudson Yang, actor in the television series “Fresh Off the Boat.”
Nissan North America, Inc. was a first-time benefactor of the Apex for Youth 24th Anniversary Inspiration Awards Gala. Nissan has a long history of sponsoring educational initiatives in Asian American communities. Nissan-funded programs include summer camps for Japanese American children, leadership development programs for Asian and Pacific Islander college students, and environmental internships for Korean youths.
Having celebrities helped with Apex’s main goal; charity. The main focus of the night is to highlight the need of Asian immigrant youth in the city, as well as our honorees who support our cause and are role models to our youth. The founders of the Apex Awards and representative from Nissan North America, took the opportunity to attract as many guests to participate in a charity event. Apex for Youth, Inc. announced the establishment of the Norman C.T. Liu Apex Scholarship Fund at today’s annual Inspiration Awards Gala. Apex for Youth offers educational and mentorship programs to underserved Asian and immigrant youth in grades 1 through 12. Ten scholarships will be awarded annually for the next five years to help selected high school students attend a college or university. After the auction, $200,000 was raised that evening to help our youth with college tuition and additional expenses; overall, Apex raised over $1 million that evening.
