On April 28th, 33rd Annual Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Festival held its press conference at the beautiful theater inside the Rubin Museum of Art to detail the information regarding the festival at both Dumbo and Ellis Island locations as well as introduce all the participating VIPs, emcees, sponsors, community groups and performers.
Ms. Louise Brooks, Community Relations & Volunteer Programs Manager of Rubin Museum of Art, welcomed media, and all guests and showed their support for 33rd Annual Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Festival. (The Rubin Museum of Art is an American museum dedicated to the collection, display, and preservation of the art of the Himalayas and surrounding regions, especially Tibetan art. The museum opened in October 2004, and displays more than 1,000 objects including paintings, sculpture, textiles, as well as ritual objects from the 2nd to the 20th centuries. Besides exhibitions based on the museum’s permanent collection, it also serves as a venue for national and international traveling exhibitions.)

Many participating emcees also attended the press conference including Ti-Hua Chang (Award-winning Chinese American broadcast journalist, he is currently a general assignment and investigative reporter for WNYW, the FOX affiliate in New York) and Air Tabigue (Stand Up Comedian, he has appeared on NBC, FOX and TFC and was former host of Asian America on PBS covering talented Asian-American artists in entertainment). They both brought their beautiful kids, the future emcees, to attend the press conference of the 33rd Annual Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Festival.

The 33rd Annual Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Festival will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2012 on Ellis Island from 12:00pm to 2:00pm and on Saturday, May 12, 2012, at the Brooklyn Archway in Dumbo, from 11:00am to 6:00pm.
Organized by the Coalition of Asian Pacific Americans since 1979, this annual festival is the longest running and largest event celebrating pan-Asian heritage nationwide. It celebrates not only the value of families, but also our heritage which make us proud to be Asian American and Pacific Islander. The festival is free and open to the public thanks to generous contributions from sponsors as well as from supporting companies and many Asian communities and organizations. More than 20,000 visitors are expected for an impressive line-up of performances, fun activities for children and adults alike, and savory samples of Asian cuisine. Numerous Asian American and Pacific Islander organizations will be present to inform visitors about useful services, volunteer opportunities, and resources to get involved in the community.
