The 12th annual Outstanding 50 Asian Americans in Business Award Gala was held on June 19th, 2013 at Cipriani Wall Street in New York from 7pm to 9pm. This annual event is hosted by the Asian American Business Development Center (AABDC). This year, the presenters of the awards were Ambassador Dnyaneshwar M. Mulay, the Consul General of India and Indra Nooyi, PepsiCo’s Chairman and CEO.
AABDC has been a valuable resource for the Asian American business community across the nation. It has been a venue for networking and communication among Asian businesses worldwide while encouraging innovation, creativity, and ingenuity among upcoming generations of business leaders. AABDC recognizes individuals whose hard work and perseverance have strengthened our economy and society. The award honors a diverse range of Asian ethnicities, including Bangladesh, China, India, Japan, Malaysia, Pakistan, the Philippines, Singapore, and Sri Lanka and Thailand.
The honorees represent a microcosm of the best Asian American entrepreneurs, professionals and corporate executives. The award committee identifies and selects the outstanding leaders who built a successful business or who have distinguished themselves in their community. The event’s top award, the Pinnacle Award, recognizes those have reached the acme of their professional career and are widely acknowledged as leaders in their industry. Raj Dhanda, Co-Head of Global Capital Markets of Morgan Stanley, and Dr. Mehmood Khan, Executive Vice President and Chief Scientific Officer, Global Research and Development of PepsiCo received the top award at this year’s gala. The Asian Business Excellence Award recognizes a successful senior executive from an Asian company that has operations in the US. The executive will have has demonstrated vision, innovation, and management excellence in the building the business to the top of its industry. A special Asian Business Excellence Award was presented to Thy Trinh, Chief Operating Officer of Resorts World Casino NYC.
Congratulations to the recipients of the 2013 Outstanding 50 Asian Americans in Business Award, the Asian Excellence in Business Award, and the Pinnacle Award. This award gala will cumulatively have honored over 500 successful Asian Americans representing over 50 industries and professionals.
