Every year, people dress up or just come to a public park to have a pillow fight. What’s the point of this, you may ask? Do Asians pillow fight? Well, of course!  International Pillow Fight Day is part of the Urban Playground Movement, a group that aims to organize and provide free and fun events to the public.

The idea is to make the urban setting more fun and interactive instead of daily work so the unique pillow fight proposal was born. Pillow fighting has been around since the existence of pillows. It was thought to be an outlet for negative emotion without actually hurting others.

This year, New York held its annual pillow fight on April 6 in Washington Square Park where strangers had a great time hitting each other with pillows. As one of the 22 sites in the world to participate in this event, it is a great way to release your stress through non-violence (soft pillows) or just to express your wild side.

Some people are annual attendees, while others are attending to win pillow fight championships. Regards of the reason for attending, all are welcome to attend this annual festivity! We look forward to seeing you in the 2014 Pillow Fight!
