Over 100 guests gathered at 75 Wall Street for the “Wall Street Gold Ladder” party which took place in the newly renovated Ligne Roset designed penthouse, as well as the Terrace Club of 75 Wall. Chiu-Ti Jansen, founder of China Happenings, hosted the event which featured speaker Anla Cheng. Anla discussed success tactics for individuals to advance on Wall Street and in the finance industry – particularly as an Asian American. The discussion focused on how to use cultural differences as career advantages on (and off) Wall Street. From how to dress, to how to present yourself with clients, and how to get promoted quickly and rise to a leadership role – the engaged audience was enthralled by Anla’s talk.
Chiu-Ti Jansen, a Wall Streeter turned media entrepreneur and a former partner of Sidley Austin LLP (an international law firm with 1,900 lawyers), said: “The work ethics that I developed on Wall Street still inform my current endeavor. I am delighted to engage in a conversation with Anla about how to manage up and manage down in one’s career.”
Anla Cheng has been an investment specialist with Robert Fleming, Goldman Sachs, and Citigroup, with a broad expertise in alternative investments throughout Asia. She is also the Former Managing Partner of Centenium Fund and is currently a Senior Partner at Sino-Century China Private Equity LLC.
As a preeminent residential building in the center of the Financial District, 75 Wall has been home to many who work in the area – which made it a natural location for this fantastic event.
One theme of the event was a slight twist on fashion. Chiu-Ti and Anla discussed how to have fun with fashion while still being work appropriate: for the traditionally conservative dress that Wall Street requires. Women wore beautifully flamboyant scarves and men came out with their most colorful ties. The female winner was awarded a beautiful necklace and bracelet from silver design craftsman Chrisolfe, and the male winner was awarded a two night stay at the Andaz hotel.
