AsianInNY.com is very proud to be one of the media sponsors for the Annual NAAAP National Convention and Diversity Career Fair which attracted thousands of attendees this year at the Hilton Hotel New York.

On August 23-25, 2012, the NAAAP Convention and Diversity Career Fair was held at the Hilton Hotel in New York for the largest Asian professionals meeting and to celebrate its 30th year, which started in New York City. At this convention, the NAAAP partnered with more than 40 corporate and organizational sponsors for leadership sessions, major speakers, awards ceremonies, and a Career Fair. College students, graduate students and even employed individuals qualify to attend the convention and career fair. This event was an opportunity to network and socialize with an immensely inspirational and intelligent group of professionals.

The three-day convention offered workshops that addressed leadership styles, personal branding, work-life balance, business management, employee engagement, global teams, and Employee Resource Groups best practices. On August 24th and 25th, corporate information sessions, on-site job interviews, and resume consultations were hosted at the Career Fair. These events were very beneficial and informative to the attendees.

Macy’s plays a supporting role to NAAAP. Macy’s has committed to driving diversity and engaging with the Asian American community. Since 2010, Macy’s partnered with Women in NAAAP, and in 2011, Macy’s observed the Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, thus increasing the Macy’s Diamond sponsorship. On Friday night, Macy’s held a scavenger hunt with fashion shows, demonstrations, and refreshments.

NAAP 100 winners and NAAAP Chapter awards were presented at the NAAAP Gala dinner, which is co-sponsored by BUICK. Doris Ching, VP at University of Hawaii, Richard Liu, MCNBC news anchor, Vivienne Poy, Senator of Canada, Ike Song, VP at Northrup Grumman, and Hines Ward, Former NFL Pittsburgh Steeler and Commissioner for the White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders have proven their excellence, mentorship and leadership skills. Former NAAAP presidents were invited and co-founders of the NY predecessor organization spoke at the Gala dinner.
