ILICA Cultural Event Made Me Miss Italy

ILICA’s 8th Cultural Event was held on October 26th. 2012 at The Lighthouse on Pier 61. It was a amazing event (my first time to a black tie event).

I first was greeted by Vincenzo when I entered and then went into the open space to mingle with everyone. The prosecco and hors d’oeuvres were delicious and made me miss Italy.

After about an hour of seeing old and new faces, it was time for dinner and the main event.

Salute!

After the salute and introduction of ILICA, Daisy and I took the stage. I was pretty nervous about speaking Italian on stage (major stage fright) though, I’m  glad that it happened that we went up early because I was able to relax and enjoy the rest of the event without worry.

... here we go...

we did good!

Soon after, they started serving us food. It was paired with campagne to toast to and a white wine that I enjoyed greatly with the entree I had.

While dinner was being served, Vincenzo introduced the future generation of italians and one of them was an amazing pianist.

At the end of the event, there was a raffle drawing and a few people on our table were lucky and got some of the goodies!

By then it was close to midnight if not past (started at 6:30pm) and my feet weren’t agreeing with my choice of shoes but overall I had a great time. I met a lot of new people and got to see others I don’t get the chance to see too often. Great food, great company. Really can’t ask for more. Thank you ILICA and AsianInNY for this wonderful experience.

Til next time~
